'Duchesse de Nemours' Peony Root (5/8 eyes)

$25.00

Type: Double

Color: Creamy white with hints of lemon

‘Duchesse de Nemours’ is a timeless heirloom variety, first introduced in 1856 and still beloved today. Its fragrant, fully double blooms open in a soft, creamy white with a faint touch of lemon at the center. A classic garden peony, it brings elegance, fragrance, and reliability year after year.

Why 5/8 Eye Roots?
Our peony roots are premium 5/8 eye size — larger and with more growth points than the standard 3/5 eye roots you’ll often see sold elsewhere. That means:

  • Stronger plants right from the start

  • A quicker path to first blooms (often flowering a year earlier)

  • More vigorous growth and long-term reliability

Planting & Care

  • Choose a sunny, well-drained spot.

  • Dig a hole about 6" deep and wide enough to spread the roots without bending.

  • Position the root so the crown (eyes) sits just at or slightly below the soil surface — planting too deeply may prevent flowering.

  • Space plants 3–4 ft. apart for ample growth.

  • Water in well. In colder climates, mulch lightly for winter protection, then remove mulch in spring for proper airflow.

  • Once established, peonies will thrive for decades with very little care.

Details

  • Root size: 5/8 eyes (premium grade)

  • Ships late October–early November

  • Package contains 1 bare root

All sales are final. Buyer is responsible for proper planting and growing conditions. We recommend planting within one week of receipt for best results.
